The Barbados Police Co-op Credit Union replaced the Savings Society of 1958 and was registered at the Department of Co-operatives on November 24th, 1960. Officials of the Credit Union met in a small office (about 15ft sq.) at Central Police Station in shared accommodation with the Police Association. The first President was Inspector John Hutson. Other past Presidents included Harold Banfield, Harold Jones and Aviston Prescod. The first Secretary was Mr. Lionel Lloyd. Major Ronald Stoute was Commissioner of Police who believed that there should be more than a mere Savings Society which was registered in 1958 and he threw his weight behind the Credit Union. In the early 1980's The office of the Credit Union moved a few steps across the yard at CPS to building about the twice the size of the previous one. From there it moved to rented premises at James Street, in 1989 then to its present location in Lightfoot Lane in January 1993. None of the recognized lending Institutions at the time, had any interest in Co-operatives. They were seen mainly as an extension of what is commonly known as a '"meeting turn." Members saved about $2.00 per month and to save $ 5.00 in those days was unique. The Annual General Meetings were held in the Recreation Room at CPS. Numbers started to increase in the early 1970's as the Credit Union gained acceptance among members. The Police Credit Union was the first Credit Union in Barbados to reach the million dollar Share Capital milestone and it has steadily grown due to the committed patronage of members. The Late Bro Kenrick Hutson remarked in his speech on January 1978 to celebrate this achievement “….we are celebrating an achievement which can be considered as one of the landmarks in the history of the Barbados Police Credit Union. It was sometime during the month of August, 1977 that we reached one million dollars in share capital.”

The Surinamese People's Credit Bank opened its doors to the public in 1949. But the history goes back to 1932. On August 27 of that year a commission was appointed to study whether it was desirable to establish a legal regulation for a money-lending company in Suriname. The condition of the States was that no legal money-lending could be created without creating a new credit option. In order to meet this requirement, two important studies were used and the final conclusions of these documents served as the basis for the founding deed of the Surinamese People's Credit Bank. This deed was executed on October 18, 1948 before the civil-law notary Drielsma and published in the GAB of October 22, 1948 no. 93. On January 3, 1949 the Volscredietbank opened its doors to the public. The bank started its business with the discounting of small promissory notes and the pawnshop credit. Credit methods have changed somewhat over the years, while credit conditions are still being applied and tightened up, depending on the time and the prevailing circumstances.

The Bank of Nevis Ltd was the brainchild of Dr. Simeon Daniel, former premier of Nevis. The Bank was incorporated on August 29th, 1985 under the laws of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis; however, the Bank opened its doors for business to the public on December 9th, 1985. This was just two years after Nevis had been granted new powers under the new independence constitution of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis. The Bank was created out of a desire to provide banking services to the local community with the hope that this would assist with the development of the island’s economy. It is for this reason that The Bank adopted the motto ‘Improving the Quality of Life’. Ideally located in the heart of the capital, Charlestown, The Bank of Nevis Ltd offers comprehensive services including a variety of deposit accounts with attractive rates of interest, credit and debit cards and loans. Other services include ATM services, online banking, brokerage services, merchant services and foreign exchange purchases and sales. Beginnings were humble: simple accommodation, a staff of five, and capital of approximately $250,000. The environment was competitive with five banks, each having offices or branches in Charlestown. Over the years, The Bank of Nevis Ltd has grown to provide banking services not only to the people of Nevis but also to the Federation and the world at large.

There was a time in Saint Lucia’s past where the average, working class civil servant was not very welcome by the large multinational banks from the United Kingdom and Canada, on the island. Even as early as the 1960s, it was almost impossible for a Saint Lucian householder of modest means to get a loan to purchase land, buy farming equipment or a home, or start a business. Then some patriotic citizens rebelled against the system and led by Bernis Jn Baptiste, they founded the Credit Union, based in a small office on 79 Chaussee Road. The location of that first office became the Bernis Jn Baptiste Building and the beginning of a solid legacy of caring not only for the average, working class public servant in Saint Lucia but also the communities from where they come. Our Vision: To be the responsive and premier financial institution which enhances your life. Our Mission: Jannou Credit Union is member owned and dedicated to providing convenient, quality and personalized service while maintaining financial stability. We seek to provide ultimate customer satisfaction by a highly trained group of motivated volunteers and staff who are supported by automation and technology. We will undertake to enhance our members' financial health and quality of life. We will engage in demonstrable corporate social responsibility.

Carver State Bank was established on February 23, 1927, and was then known as the Georgia Savings and Realty Corporation. The original corporation served as a private bank as well as a real estate investment and management company for its founder, Louis B. Toomer, his friends and many of his contemporaries in Savannah. Carver was first located at 505 West Broad Street and during the early years, the business was moved to the 400 block of West Broad Street in the Braswell Building near what was then Hardee's Drug Store. Early in 1947, efforts began to convert the Georgia Savings and Realty Corporation to a state bank under the supervision of the Georgia Department of Banking. On April 29, 1947, this was accomplished and the corporate charter was amended, with the name being changed to The Carver Savings Bank.

Antigua and Barbuda Police Co-operative Credit Union was established in 1954 to help members working for the Police Force achieve their financial goals. The Credit Union movement in Antigua and Barbuda was started by the Catholic Church. It grew from a simple savings group to a very strong movement throughout the country. In this regard, there is no doubt that one of the founding members of the Police Credit Union, former Chief of Police, the late Edmund Blaize, a Catholic, was very committed to the establishment of a vibrant financial co-operative for Police officers. It was officially registered in 1957. Since that time, the membership has opened to the General Public to include Caribbean Nationals.
